TMP_GUI_DIRECTORY_LIST_FILES Limitations - Alternative

Hello,

Could you please let me know any alternative of  TMP_GUI_DIRECTORY_LIST_FILES and cl_gui_frontend_services=>directory_list_files.

I have to retrieve large volume of files from a another network (shared folder).

When I am trying to retrieve it is returning 0 files but when I am giving 1000-5000 files then it is coming correctly. Is there any limitations to retrieve files from presentation server?
