Change of Sales Order Status from program

Hi all,

I have a requirement to change status of Sales Order (SO) by ABAP. I tried to find some BAPI which would do that but no luck. Also forum here suggests that it is rather tricky task. Only clue I got from the forum is that it may be possible with usage of FM STATUS_UPDATE.

Any experience with changing of SO status?
