EXCEL file uploading from application Server

Hi all,

My requirement is to upload a excel file into internal table so that i can use it for BDC ,from application server in background processing .

I already tried ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE , TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP    function modules but these doesn't work in background processsing.

I also tried Open dataset, read dataset but its giving garbage data for EXCEL file , it's ok for .CSV or .TXT files .

Already  searched alot in SCN and other sites ,

Please suggest ASAP , thanks in advance .
